Those Darn Allergies….

If you are like me seasonal allergies that come in the summer are no fun. When the weather is nice and all you want to do is spend time outside in the summer sun having a runny nose, nasal congestion, scratchy throat and watery eyes is not how I want to spend my time. Living in Minnesota we cherish our summers due to them being for a limited time only basis. I have found that Essential Oils have once again been my savior in dealing with the allergy symptoms and give me relief without having to take over the counter medications that can be costly.

Here are some ways I alleviate my allergy issues all day and night. Now this is not going to cure your allergies or make them go away but it is going to help deal with the nose, throat and eyes so you can breathe and see.

A classic combination is Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint Essential Oils. I often use this in my diffuser during the day to help with nasal congestion. Also there is a tube called an inhaler that you can use to sniff the oils to open the nasal cavities more. You can purchase these on Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Aromatherapy-Blank-Inhaler-Sticks-Essential/dp/B00V7WWW24/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1437585906&sr=8-12&keywords=inhaler )

Recipes you can try in your diffuser:

            RECIPE 1

4 Drops Lavender

4 Drops Lemon

4 Drops Peppermint

Diffuse for an hour twice a day in the home to relieve allergies

            RECIPE 2

1 Drop Lemon

1 Drop Lime

1 Drop Orange

1 Drop Grapefruit

1 Drop Bergamot

Diffuse for an hour twice a day in the home to relieve allergies

Inhaler Recipe for Allergies

5 Drops Cedarwood

5 Drops Tea Tree

5 Drops Lavender

Place drops into a glass bowl and drop the cotton insert of the inhaler into the bowl to soak up all the oils. Place cotton insert back into inhaler tube. Sniff every 15 min to relieve nasal congestion due to allergies.

I hope this will help you breathe again!! I also have a sleep spray I use on my pillow at night to help me rest during allergies. Here is that recipe also.

Peaceful Sleep Linen Spray

2 oz PET plastic or glass spray bottle

4 Drops Ylang Ylang

14 Drops Orange

6 Drops Lavender

2 oz Distilled water

Combine ingredients into spray bottle and spray your pillow and sheets at night before bed.
