Essential Oils that can help prevent and aid Seasonal Colds and viruses…

This is the time with children back to school and the cold weather about to settle in for the Fall and Winter season catching a Virus or a Cold is bound to happen. However there is hope with the use of Essential Oils. Oils can help aid in the symptoms and ease the uncomfortable feelings of an illness along with help cleanse the air you breathe to help prevent you or your family from getting sick.

Most oils have anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties that help kill the germs and viruses in the air and in your bloodstream.  Using essential oils such as Tea Tree, Cinnamon, Clove, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lemon, Sweet Orange and Thyme all deter the growth of viruses. You can combine any of these in a diffuser to clean the air and prevent viruses in the home.

My all time favorite Essential Oil is from Edens Garden called Four Thieves oil, it is a mixture of oils that are great to disinfect the home and boost your immunity. I do sell a spray and an oil to aid in this and have had great success in using these together is aiding to not getting sick or kicking a cold quicker than usual. Check out my store for that product you won’t be sorry you did.

I love Vicks but not all the stuff in the product so I made my own this past year to help with allergies and now I plan to use it for Congestion from colds. I hope you use this recipe and love it as much as I do.

Chest rub balm

.5 oz Bees Wax

1.5 oz Jojoba Oil

1.5 oz Coconut Oil

10 drops Eucalyptus oil

5 drops Lavender oil

5 drops Thyme oil

In a saucepan fill with water about a quarter of the way and create a double boiler with a Pyrex measuring cup or glass bowl. Put bees wax in the bowl or Pyrex and the Jojoba oil until bees wax is melted. Turn off the heat and add the Coconut Oil until it is incorporated and melted as well. Let sit a couple of minutes and add the essential oils. Use two 2 oz glass jars or PET plastic jars and pour the mixture into the jars and cap immediately so the Essential Oils do not evaporate. Let cool completely and rub a quarter size amounts on your chest and feet before bed or as needed to relieve congestion.

Eucalyptus is very effective in battling congestion and coughing, while Thyme is a powerful antiviral. Lavender is also great at battling viruses and bacteria as well as promoting relaxation.

I hope you find this information helpful and useful as we head into the cold season!
